It may seem a little late in the game to be talking about this, but how do we lose weight?
Well let me tell you what I found out: to lose just ONE pound of fat your body needs to use/burn 3,500 calories. Yikes! That number sounds staggering. If you take it a step further and add up how many calories you need to burn off to reach your goal weight, it becomes downright scary. It’s no wonder that losing weight is such a struggle.
It also makes it clearer as to why what you eat and how much you exercise is so important. So what do we do? It’s not like we can just stop eating. I suppose you could do it that way, but beware of harmful side effects such as death.
The safer, healthier way to take off the pounds is simply to cut back the number of calories you eat and increase the number of calories that you burn. Look very closely at your diet and decide what you can add, change or remove from it to make it healthier and lower in calories. It may be as simple as switching to low-fat milk or diet soda. Now look at your activity level. In order to take off the pounds, you need to be doing something more than you currently do. It doesn’t matter what; just move your butt!
